Materials Acceptance Policy
The following is a list of items which we either CANNOT ACCEPT or which require special handling. This list should not be considered as all-inclusive. If you have any item which might be in question, please contact us.
NON-METALLICS Wood, paper, cardboard, glass, concrete, rubber, plastics, garbage, dirt, rocks, yard waste, tires, ASBESTOS, etc.
LIQUIDS Water, oil, paint, fuel, chemicals, etc.
SEALED CONTAINERS Compressed gas cylinders or containers (gas, oxygen, propane, refrigerant gas, etc.), fire extinguishers, pressure and non-pressure vessels. These can ONLY be accepted if cut in half. Hydraulic cylinders must be completely free of oil, opened up or cut in half.
TANKS (Gas, diesel, heating oil, water) can only be accepted if presented to us completely free of fluids, fumes, sludge or residue, with a hole measuring at least 18 inches x 18 inches cut in the tank. Hydraulic cylinders must be free of oil and residue.
We reserve the right to refuse any tanks that are, in our opinion, not safe to process, or would create an environmental hazard.
DRUMS/CANS Steel containers from 1 gallon to 55 gallons will only be accepted if tops are off and containers are completely clean and free of residue of any kind.
STEEL CABLE AND WIRE Can only be accepted if either cut into 4 foot lengths, or securely tied in bundles measuring no more than 3 foot by 1.5 foot.
BALLASTS From electrical light fixtures must be removed from fixtures. We do not accept ballasts. WE DO NOT ACCEPT BATTERIES.
APPLIANCES Refrigerators and freezers are accepted at a charge of $20.00 per unit, and must be empty and free of food waste. We do not accept air conditioning units with freon, or certain styles of cooling units with ammonia or sulfur-dioxide. We do not accept whole loose compressors.
TRANSFORMERS AND LAMINATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
OIL FILTERS Are not accepted loose.
IRON OR STEEL PIPE Coated with tar or other non-metallic insulation is not accepted.
DRYCLEANING EQUIPMENT Will only be accepted if all tanks have been dismantled and cut open. All lines must have been cut to ensure that no drycleaning fluids are contained in this scrap.
We do not accept explosive devices, radioactive devices, medical waste or any other items that are considered as hazardous by law.
DELIVERY OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IS A VIOLATION OF THE LAW. IF ANY HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ARE DELIVERED TO US, WE WILL ASK YOU TO COME AND PICK THEM UP, OR TO BEAR THE EXPENSE OF HAVING US ARRANGE TO HAVE SUCH MATERIALS DISPOSED OF BY AN EXPERT LICENSED TO DO SO. |
